The Toyota Tundra is the hidden hero of the full-size truck market. The truth is that the Tundra has advantages over its competitors and delivers some of the best performance and design you’ll find in any full-size truck. With Toyota Racing Department (TRD) at the helm, the Tundra offers off-road racing capability that is unmatched by many other vehicles in its class. TRD is a highly relevant topic for the 2025 Toyota Tundra specifically as there are some new developments for this model year that further TRD’s mission with the Tundra. There are a lot of reasons to make 2025 the year for you to finally purchase a Tundra, so let’s take a look at what Toyota’s been up to with the Tundra this year. By the end, you may find yourself visiting us for a test drive. Keep reading so you can determine which model you want to test drive!;

TRD Rally Package

Like any good full-size truck, the Tundra has always been known to excel in multiple ways, including daily driving, towing, worksite capability, and off-roading. But 2025 is a year specifically focused on off-roading for the Tundra. A lot of people think of Toyota as a reliable brand for normal drivers, but they do not understand the performance capability and prowess that Toyota has cultivated over the years. Toyota Racing Development has been the mastermind behind some of the most capable vehicles in history, and it’s still going strong today.

In the modern age, TRD has geared its racing development efforts towards off-roading capability in Toyota’s trucks and SUVs. While we’ve seen the fruit of that labor in a number of great vehicles and packages, the 2025 Tundra hosts TRD’s latest and greatest development: the TRD Rally Package, which is available on the SR5 trim level.

The 2025 Toyota Tundra TRD Rally Package takes its inspiration from Toyota’s long-acclaimed Baja racing heritage, putting an exciting spin on a fan-favorite truck. Even when it comes to off-roading vehicles, a lot of people picture mountains and forests, losing sight of the excitement of off-road desert racing. The Tundra TRD Rally Package is here to reclaim desert racing, adorned with TRD’s iconic red, orange, and yellow signature colors (which are also stitched into the seats). Once you’re behind the wheel, you’ll have the flexibility to seek all different types of terrain with Multi-Terrain Select. If you end up on terrain that’s not as smooth as a desert and need to clear obstacles, all you have to do is enable Crawl Control, and your Tundra will work its way through the obstacles as if it were walking.

Equipped with Bilstein shocks, skid plates, 18-inch TRD off-road wheels, and all-terrain tires, the TRD Rally Package prepares the Tundra for all of the challenges that come with off-roading. The Tundra is a strong, sturdy, and capable truck at its foundation. The TRD Rally Package makes it even stronger and more capable in all types of settings. If you’re interested in an off-road truck, the Tundra TRD Rally Package is one of the best options in 2025.

Updated Comfort and Convenience Features

While the TRD Rally Package is arguably the most exciting development of the 2025 Tundra, there are some individual advancements in terms of comfort and convenience that stand out in 2025. Trucks are designed for performance, but everybody enjoys good performance better in a comfortable environment.

When it comes to comfortable environments, the Tundra sets the bar high with new massage seats. These optional seats are also leather-trimmed and 10-way power-adjustable. The massage function is available for the driver and front passenger and is controlled via the 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, both when stationary and when moving. The massage seats are not a mere available feature but are standard in the 1794, Platinum, and Capstone trims.

The Tundra has also added an available power tailgate with knee lift assist. If your hands are full and need some hands-free help accessing the truck bed, that’s no problem for the 2025 Tundra. While massage seats and power tailgates are exciting, comfortable, and convenient features, there’s one more new feature we’d like to address, and it’s one that we think experienced truckers will be very excited about.

New Tow Tech Package

Truckers like to tow. It makes sense. That’s one of the main capabilities of a truck. The Tundra has a special advantage in this regard with its 12,000 lb towing capacity, but this year, the advantage goes beyond mere specs and blends advanced tech with towing capability to cultivate a harmonious towing experience.

The Tundra uses cameras to provide a comprehensive towing package that is sure to make any trucker’s life easier. With an available Panoramic View Monitor (PVM), drivers have access to a variety of views around the truck right on the multimedia screen. You’ll be able to see a rear split view, allowing you to see the surroundings on both sides of your trailer, as well as a hitch view, which makes it much easier to connect your trailer to the vehicle. Plus, you’ll have a view of the pickup bed just for good measure.

While features like these have been around for a number of years, the truly innovative offering for 2025 is the available Wireless Trailer Camera System (WCS). Just like it sounds, you can attach a wireless camera to your trailer. This camera is pre-paired to your truck using Wi-Fi; once it is attached to your trailer, you can have a live-streamed rear view of what’s behind the trailer. For convenience, you can have it live-streamed right onto the digital rearview mirror. Otherwise, you’re free to display it on the multimedia screen.

Any trucker who’s ever hauled a trailer knows that towing has, historically, been one of the less fun parts of trucking. It’s certainly important, but it can be a hassle. But, innovative technology in the Tundra makes towing a lot easier with stress-reducing assistance. The WCS in the 2025 model year is a huge step forward, making it a great year for towers to consider the Tundra. The combination of interior comfort and convenience features and stress-reduction technologies means you can spend more time enjoying your truck. The Tundra’s towing technology allows you to see more, eliminating the unknowns when towing and giving you peace of mind.
